"A Celebration of African-American Artistry" is a concert dedicated to musicians of color everywhere, and aims to add diversity to the classical stage. The program features contemporary music by two living composers - Adolphus Hailstork and Boston's own William B. Banfield, and centers around the iconic Symphony No. 1, by Florence Price, the first symphony written by an African-American woman ever to be performed by a major symphony orchestra. Violist Ashleigh Gordon will be performing as soloist. Free admission.
