SaxoVoce, the duo's new release, features seven premiere recordings of works that explore the wide-ranging musical, dramatic, and theatrical possibilities inherent in the synthesis of saxophone and voice. From haunting whispers to nonsensical shouts, each composer uniquely integrates the human voice into Ogni Suono's playing, and articulates varied aesthetic goals within this unique instrumental context. The composers featured on SaxoVoce are among the leading voices in new music today and have collaborated closely with Ogni Suono on this project. Tonight's concert features pieces by: Kate Soper, Christopher Dietz, Dave Reminick, Chris Fisher-Lochhead, and Erin Rogers.

Formed by Cleveland-based saxophonists Noa Even and Phil Pierick in 2009, Ogni Suono is committed to expanding and promoting repertoire for saxophone duo by commissioning and performing new works. The duo has presented concerts in Europe, Southeast Asia, and throughout the United States. Emphasizing the importance of education, Noa and Phil regularly supplement performances with clinics, master classes, community outreach programs, and presentations.

Semiosis is a local string quartet that cares about representing music from the entirety of their community. Their programming reflects works from composers of diverse ethnicities, stylistic approaches, social standing, identities, etc. Nicole Parks, Kyra Davies, Lauren Nelson, and Allison Drenkow formed Semiosis in 2014. The quartet has been described by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as “astonishing,” and is quickly gaining a reputation as a dynamic ensemble dedicated to presenting the string quartet repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries.
